DIS_ARM is not hip hop. DIS_ARM is a collaboration of two minds, DJ Element and DJ Red One (aka Carp3000).

Individual past experiences include competing in the hip hop DJ battle scene and The DMC World Technics Championships (Singapore).

DJ Element has been performing collaboratively and quietly with butoh dancers and experimenting with the turntables as his musical instrument alongside other sound emitting devices such as hulunsi, gamelan, bass, guitar, sampler and electronics.

DJ Red One on the other hand has been rather solitary in his side projects. As Carp3000, he produces minimal slow instrumental hiphop tracks. Experimenting and manipulating both analog and digital sounds sampled from vinyls that has been collected over the years. He voyeurs deep into the infinite world of sound manipulation.

With these turntable exploits, they now create live manipulation and sound collages with the use of old sound effect records and tape samples collected over the years, found and stolen sounds plus additional usage of discarded Casiotone keyboards and other musically potent paraphernalia such as fm/am broadband radio frequencies, dead tones, digital clicks and field recordings. The emphasis of their soundwork is a strict live improvisation of manipulated electronic music in its cheapest and rawest format.

Having performed for the first time at PKW Worms Festival 2001 with live hand-handled visuals, dis_arm will be appearing again for the Worms Festival 2002 with more sight and sounds.
